BuildSAGE will be your advocate and industry representative. Carefully planned projects do not exist or succeed in a vacuum. Your project needs a game plan, not just a blueprint! Most projects typically enlist several collaborators along the way. At BuildSAGE, we work with vetted contractors and designers that have years of experience and are licensed and insured.

1. Create An Account

You create an account on our website and tell us about your proposed project. BuildSAGE’s online platform will guide you through a series of questions to help you provide us with information about the scope of your project. You can provide upload photos, links to inspirational content, blueprints, and drawings (it doesn’t have to be anything fancy—the back of a napkin is fine). Send us pictures of existing conditions.

2. Get Matched With A Home Remodeling Contractor

We at BuildSAGE review your information and may ask you additional questions. Then we will match you with a remodeling contractor. We only work with highly qualified contractors. We check references, review previous projects, and verify they have proper licenses and insurance.

Once we have made a match, we ask you for three times that would be convenient for the remodeling contractor to visit. We schedule the visit and send reminders to you and the Contractor. BuildSAGE will provide the home remodeling contractor with the information you entered into our platform so they will be well-prepared.

After the contractor visits with you, they will send BuildSAGE a preliminary estimate, a proposed schedule for construction, and detailed scope of work for review.

3. Receive a Contract and Deposit Funds Securely

We will enter the estimate information into our attorney-designed contract. The contract will define the scope of work, identify milestones, and establish a payment schedule. Once the home remodeling contractor reviews the contract, we send it to you for your approval. We will also send the BuildSAGE Owner Representation Agreement, which specifies our fees. Upon your request, BuildSAGE will negotiate the contract on your behalf.

Once you sign the contract, you will be asked to deposit some or all of the funds into BuildSAGE’s secure holding account. This protects you from paying a large deposit directly to the contractor. BuildSAGE will release the funds when established milestones are achieved. If your project is being financed, we will work with your bank or other institutions.

4. Communicate With The Home Remodeling Contractor Throughout the Project

You will be able to communicate with the home remodeling contractor and BuildSAGE in real time on our platform. This will provide comprehensive documentation of any decisions or changes. You can also use the platform to share any kudos or concerns with BuildSAGE. We are always available and will respond to any communications within one workday.

5. The Project

After the contract is signed, the contractor will order the necessary materials and obtain the required permits. When this is complete, the project will begin on the timeline established in the contract. The owner’s representative serves as a liaison and ensures that the owner’s best interests are fulfilled.

Owner’s representatives are tasked with monitoring — not managing, which is the project manager’s job — various tasks associated with the renovation. Some of these tasks include reviewing progress and approving payments and troubleshooting problems to help the project be on time and within budget.

6. Warranty

Once the home remodeling project is complete, all workmanship and materials are guaranteed for one year. BuildSAGE is with you all the way.
